As the Egyptian PV market is
growing exponentially, it was required to develop a Quality Infrastructure
roadmap to provide awareness, trust, safety & quality assurance to support
this growth. Within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of
Electricity and Renewable Energy (MOERE), the New and Renewable Energy
Authority (NREA), the Electricity Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory
Agency (EgyptERA), Electricity Distribution Companies, as well as the private
sector, the Egyptian-German Joint Committee on Renewable Energy, Energy
Efficiency and Environmental Protection (JCEE) and in collaboration with NREA ,
a QI Roadmap for Egyptian Market was developed after the identification of existing gaps in the market. The assignments
focused on four key areas: on-grid & off-grid regulations, local
manufacturing and capacity building. The
framework was based on the deployment of: Standards, Certification, Testing
Processes, Accreditation, Inspection Bodies, Metrology & Market
Surveillance.
The methodology of the assignment
was based on:
1- Identifying involved stakeholders
2- Extracting identified gaps from the points of views of the
stakeholders
3- Generating & prioritizing suitable solutions to achieve market
maturity
4- Developing the QI Roadmap for the Egyptian PV market.
Upon the completion of the
assignment, an awareness session was conducted for the involved stakeholders on
the 21st of November 2022 to present the outcomes of the developed
roadmap as well as the action plan
