certificate awarding ceremony for the training course on bird classification and monitoring. The program was held from 15 to 20 September 2025 at the Authority’s site in Jabal El-Zeit – Gulf of Suez


In line with the expansion of wind energy projects in the Gulf of Suez region, and in fulfillment of Egypt’s commitments towards the Sustainable Development Goals and biodiversity conservation, the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), in cooperation with the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), organized a certificate awarding ceremony for the training course on bird classification and monitoring.

The program was held from 15 to 20 September 2025 at the Authority’s site in Jabal El-Zeit – Gulf of Suez, in the presence of Eng. Ehab Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of NREA, and Eng. Amgad El-Houhy, Head of the Studies, Research, and Testing Sector.

Objectives

  • Enhancing participants’ capacities in identifying and classifying bird species.
  • Training on field monitoring methodologies and understanding bird behaviors.
  • Supporting the balance between renewable energy project development and biodiversity conservation.

The program featured contributions from a group of experts and specialists in ornithology, biodiversity, and renewable energy, including:

  • Dr. Tamer Kamal, Head of the Central Department for Biodiversity
  • Dr. Loay El-Sayed, General Director of Nature Reserves
  • Dr. Basma Sheta, Biodiversity Specialist, Damietta University
  • Prof. Gamal Madany, Professor of Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University
