The New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) received a delegation from the African Sahel and Sahara countries (Chad, Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso), along with supervisors from the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company and interpreters, on a field visit to the wind farm and solar power station at the Authority’s Zafarana site. The visit aimed to strengthen regional cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise in the field of renewable energy.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to NREA’s projects in the field of wind energy, as well as the 50 MW solar power station, where an introductory session was organized to explain the operation mechanisms of the plants and the Authority’s role in supporting renewable energy projects in Egypt.

The site engineers accompanied the delegation on a field tour that included the maintenance workshop and the control room, providing a close look at the operation and monitoring systems, performance tracking mechanisms, and the wind turbines on site. The delegation also attended a presentation on the latest technologies used in the operation and management of these projects and their role in enhancing Egypt’s energy mix.

This visit comes as part of NREA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen African cooperation in the fields of clean energy and to support the continent’s sustainable development goals.
