The New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) has issued its 28th periodic bulletin (NREAmeter), which monitors renewable energy activities during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025/2026. The bulletin highlights progress in the fields of hydropower, solar, wind, and biomass energy.
According to the report, hydropower generation reached approximately 4,821 GWh, while wind energy projects produced around 3,329 GWh, and grid-connected solar PV systems generated about 1,855 GWh during the same period.
These efforts contributed to a reduction of nearly 4.097 million tons of CO₂ emissions and fuel savings of about 1.758 million tons of oil equivalent, underscoring the significant role of renewable energy in combating climate change and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
In line with the expansion of the private sector’s role in renewable electricity generation, projects with a total capacity of around 3.3 GW (solar and wind) are currently under construction, in addition to other projects under development with a combined capacity of approximately 13.6 GW (solar and wind)
